Does anyone know what Luke 5: 33-39 means? It has stumped me all day. I know it has something to do with fasting, but I’m not quit sure what. Can someone explain??!!
The past couple days have been good. We had a devotional on Monday morning and I asked for prayer about how I’ve been feeling. After Peit and I talked and he was saying it’s very normal for people to come here and be home sick and have culture shock. You just gotta get in the groove of things, but it’s nice now that people here know, they can keep me accountable.
There’s a young girl named Petra in the hospital, she’s been there since Sunday afternoon, thinking it was malaria. But now the doctors aren’t really sure, and she’s highly sedated, so please pray that God will heal her, and give the doctors the knowledge to treat her, this has been a huge stress on the whole compound. Pita and Peit have been in the hospital most of the week, so Peit has asked be to spend the afternoons around their place making sure the kids have what they need. There’s also another girl named Naomi, she’s also sick very high fevers and bad head aches, I’ve been spending most of my time with her just comforting her. It sucks when kids are sick, I feel like my mom when I was sick, do you need this, can I get you that? Haha and we all say we’ll never be like our parents….
So I have lots of prayer requests for these kids!! And since I’m around them, pray I stay healthy too!! We had pancakes for dinner last night, it was sooo good. (they don’t use syrup though…) So, things are going well with me! Thank-you for all your prayers and love already, please keep it up!!!
Love Brenna
Hello!
ReplyDeleteHi Brenna, So great to see you FB pictures and read your updates. You have been on my heart and mind for days, young lady! What a great way to get in the groove over there by being proactive. You are growing and learning so much already and it's only your first week :). So proud of you. Keeping you mom and dad surrounded in love as they adjust to this time without you here. They did such an awesome job at the marriage seminar this past weekend and then we all kicked back on Sat night and went to Friendly Mike's for Lorilee's karaoke birthday. Who knew that Lor's brother, Chris, is an AMAZING singer? He seriously should be on some kind of televised competition like Canadian Idol. Anyways, its still cloudy and cool here. How hot is it over there? It looks so beautiful in the photos. Praying for your health, both emotionally and physically. And for some reason, God keeps giving me this verse for you: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever" ~ Hebrews 13:8. Maybe just a reminder that no matter where you go or what circumstances you find yourself in, He is your Rock of peace. Will write more soon. Love to you, Michelle
You are in our thoughts and prayers, God sure has answered your prayers when you asked what is my role here, you have been an amazing help to those children, loving on them and praying for them, we will pray for those little ones as well. Glad you were able to share your thoughts with Peit.
ReplyDeleteKeep on smiling, love all those pictures of you with the kids
Hey Brenna, not that I can answer it the best but you got me looking up the passage, and then I read some commentaries about the passage you were reading, Jesus was starting something fresh and new based on truth and grace,Jesus was indicating the reluctance of some people to change from their traditional "religious" ways. Jesus is not saying the message and methods for making disciples of John the baptist and disciples were wrong, He just wants to point out their way is not for everyone, and leaves some people outside of the boundaries. Their way is good for those who fit the mold but Jesus wants to reach those who have been abandoned, overlooked, bypassed and rejected.(what a great message for those children in Uganda). Through His teachings and choice of disciples, Jesus is showing the Kingdom of God has arrived. New convenant. Hebrews 8:13, by calling this covenant "new" he has made the first one obsolete and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.
ReplyDeleteThanks for getting me also to question this passage. anita
Hey sweet girl,
ReplyDeleteSo delighted that you are gettin in the groove.
A word that I have for you is to stop and listen carefully to the music around you right where you are and just let yourself dance to it!(like nobody is watching:))
